STAR Christian Network will offer both covering and identity to those who are members, creating a common connection to one another. The network governmental structure is apostolic. It is directed by a called and commissioned apostolic leader with a presbytery (advisory council) of highly qualified leaders. This council is an apostolic board of governors who provide the network with strong, well developed guardianship. Apostle Paul “Buddy” Crum, Apostle John P. Kelly, and Apostle Timothy Byler carry the responsibility of presbytery to STAR. Their widespread influence and expertise bring tremendous credibility to the vision we are pursuing.
Network operations are the responsibility of Dr. Philip and Dr. Judy Byler. Apostle Phil has been deeply involved in the apostolic for more than three decades and brings an intense passion to see church and marketplace find a practical balance of ministry. Dr. Judy brings a vital element of prophetic insight and intercession to their ministry. She is also a most valuable asset in ministering to the challenges and frustrations found in the development of ministry.
Dr. Phil has traveled globally with Apostle Kelly, developing his skills as a network advisor and builder of Kingdom ministries. The Bylers have been married for more than four decades, incorporating their ministry into every area of their lives. They are the primary consultants and counselors to individual churches and ministries. They work to build relational bridges between vocational ministers and the host of Christain leaders in every other vocational field. This, coupled with the opportunity to draw on the wisdom and insight of a wide array of apostles and prophets from across the body of Christ, gives the Byler team significant expertise to fulfill the purpose and achieve the vision of STAR Christian Network.
Governmentally, member organizations within STAR Christian Network function autonomously. Intervention into local governmental interests by STAR leadership is only considered at the request of a specific local organization. Clear guidelines will be established with each member organization prior to embracing any provision for extra-local adjudication of conflict. It is not expected that businesses or business organizations will desire to, or in most cases, be able to submit their business practices to a governing church infrastructure, board, or spiritual network. Indeed, that is far removed from the objectives we have for relational connections with the marketplace community. Rather, we seek to empower both the church and the marketplace by utilizing the capability of both in cooperative resourcing.
In certain rare cases, member businesses may request the counsel of STAR leadership in mediating specific situations. However, such involvement on the part of STAR will only occur on a case by case basis. Member businesses may specifically request such counsel. In such cases, STAR leadership will only offer counsel as it applies to understanding and applying Christian values, morality, or ethics. All other counsel must be derived from professional sources with specific expertise in the nature of the situation or situations which had arisen within that particular business.
The relational connection between business organizations and STAR is only offered to provide a means of coordinating a wide variety of training and skills development opportunities between member groups. Being able to bring business skills training to church settings, and church developed wisdom and encouragement to business settings on a well-defined basis is one of the unique expectations built into STAR Christian Network’s effort to provide a bridge between the sacred and the secular worlds.
